By 2003, the Air Jordan 18 was
released and called the Last
Dance to give tribute to the
last game of MJ. This shoe
features a variety of firsts
like a one piece upper, a
comfort control plate made of
carbon fiber, and a Zoom Air
in dual layer. Its design was
inspired by the Lamborghini
Murcilago and surprisingly
comes with a brush, a towel
and even a Driver’s Manual.
All its features are made for
one purpose of being able to
endure all the demands of the
hard court.
MJ might have gotten back to
playing but it was his knee
that could not hold up
anymore. This was the time
that everyone was certain that
he won’t be coming back
anymore. The designer for this
Air Jordan was Tate Kuerbis.
He had been a part of the
entire Jordan design team
since ’99 and been staying
with Nike since ’95. The
design got its inspiration
from a combination of things:
the slim lines of the auto
industry, the carbon fiber
made monocoque from F1 race
cars, the rubber heel wrap of
race car driving shoes and the
fine Italian dress shoes which
has bold stitches right on the
soles.
With the previous Air Jordan
being presented with a CD-rom
and a pure metal briefcase,
many wondered how this one
could level up. So, what’s
next? Well, many can say that
the AJ 17 was never a
disappointment. It may have
not come with a briefcase but
it came up with a brand new
Jordan box with a nice cut out
of ‘18’ with a foil as
backdrop and brand new pull
out opening as well. The
entire package also comes with
a brush and a towel. This is
really a simple yet great set
of cleaning your shoes in the
most convenient of manner.
For the AJ 16 and 17s, they
came up with modified versions
which came with a “+”. But
with the AJ 18, things were
taken further when they also
released an 18.5. The design
was quite similar but the lace
cover was lifted and the
Jumpman was already on the
side of the shoe. The 18.5
version has legs topper with
1985-2003 written on it. If
you wish to get noticed, then
this is the perfect AJ pair to
wear. The box it came with is
in customized silver cardboard
box, a suede brush and a tiny
black towellette. The brush
for the suede comes with some
black suede 18s while the
other non suede AJs do not get
to have a suede brush. What
you will get instead with the
others is a tiny white towellette.
So if you still love that
gaiter look, then here is
another unique AJs. We offer a
lot of Jordan Shoes Retro
XVIII 18 here that might get
your attention and make you
the center of attention once
you grab a pair of whatever
color scheme. All looks classy
and can also pass to be a
lifestyle kind of sneakers for
street wear. |
