Tony Mowbray Targets More Intensity from Blackburn in Upcoming Friendlies

August 9, 2018

Tony Mowbray says that he is hoping for a much better intensity from Blackburn going forward. Blackburn are preparing for the third pre-season friendly and this will be only the first time that they play at Ewood Park at the start of this campaign. After having getting promoted back to the Championship, Blackburn are hoping for a much better improvement in terms of fortunes. The team has been involved in draws against Port Vale and a win over Hibernian so far in the friendlies. There are still a couple of friendlies against the likes of Liverpool and Everton to look forward to for Mowbray and his team.

The new campaign for Blackburn begins in the first week of August when the team takes on Ipswich Town at Portman Road. Mowbray may expect a greater intensity due to the increasing level of fitness for the players. After starting out in a slow and decisive fashion, Blackburn will be building up their fitness levels in the next few weeks. This bodes well for the start of the season. So far in the summer transfer window, Blackburn have been relatively quiet. They have brought in highly rated youngsters Joe Rodwell and Jacob Davenport, while Elliott Ward and Liam Feeney have left the club from last campaign. It was extremely important that the club spent only one campaign in League One.

Eden Hazard plays down rift with Romelu Lukaku

July 26, 2018

Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard has played down the talk of a rift between him and Romelu Lukaku. The Belgium captain had criticised Lukaku for ‘hiding away upfront’ following the 3-0 win over Panama at the World Cup but he has since explained the comment in a different way to avoid any misunderstanding.

In a report covered by Sky Sports, Hazard suggested that he only wants to get the best out of the team and has urged Lukaku to show more involvement in the build-up, he said: “As the captain, even if I am not the captain I can talk, on the pitch I try to give my best, if I can help players to be better – I will ‘I just told Romelu Lukaku if we want to win the game we need him, not just as a scorer to score goals, but we want him to be involved in the build-up. ‘We just talked normally and we won the game in the end so it was fine.’”

Eden Hazard aiming for World Cup glory with Belgium

June 29, 2018

Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard has admitted that Belgium must take advantage of their star-studded squad during the summer World Cup in Russia. The Red Devils have never won a major tournament in their history but they are being tipped as one of the favourites to lift the World Cup in Russia with a number of star names at their disposal.

Speaking to The Mirror, Hazard acknowledged that England’s ‘golden generation’ could not leave up to their billing but believes the current Belgium squad is capable of achieving what the Three Lions could not during the early 2000s, he said: “The golden generation thing – you have, 10 years or 15 years ago, this same golden generation in England, but you won nothing. Now I think the fans, journalists, all of Belgium, the country just want to win something.

Dybala needs a rest to return to his best, says Allegri

January 30, 2018

Massimiliano Allegri claims that Paulo Dybala needs to rest at this moment after having been involved in a lot of matches over the course of the year. The Argentine was one of the best players at the start of the campaign, but he has been going through a very poor run of form over the last couple of months. In September, he has been able to score only two goals. The 24-year-old did start the game for Juventus in the win over Genoa on Wednesday. This Coppa Italia victory was masterminded by Dybala, as he came up with the first goal and also created an assist for Gonzalo Higuain.

This once again put the focus back upon Dybala, as the season is about to head into the winter break. Juventus have the opportunity to go into this winter break in a positive mood since the team are up against Roma on Monday night. This is a crucial game and could help Juventus open up a six-point advantage over Eusebio Di Francesco’s team. At this moment, Juventus can even hope to top the table, but Dybala returning to the form is of paramount importance for the same. Allegri has defended the recent performances of the Argentine by saying that Dybala has been overworked, and a rest will do him a lot of good in the second half of the campaign.

Michael Owen: Liverpool are ‘on the cusp’ of signing Naby Keita

August 4, 2017

Former Liverpool striker-turned-pundit Michael Owen insists that the Reds are close to securing the club-record signing of midfielder Naby Keita from RB Leipzig.

The Guinea international put up an all-round performance for the Bundesliga newcomers last season as his eight goals and eight assists helped the club to a second-place finish.

The Reds have failed with two bids worth £50m and £66m for the midfield enforcer this summer, and they are set to return with a third offer of £70m, which many sources believe would be sufficient to seal an agreement. In a report by The Mirror, Owen suggests that his former club are ‘on the cusp’ of signing Keita, who has already earned comparisons with Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante for his tireless workrate.

“They are on the cusp of signing Keita, and that could be an amazing signing if that came off,” he told The Mirror. Meanwhile, he also praised the club’s recruitment of Mohamed Salah, who has significantly bolstered the Reds attack ahead of their Champions League playoffs next month. read more …

TIME FOR SHAKESPEARE TO PROVE HIMSELF

July 11, 2017

Most enterprises spend a fortune trying to convince investors that they could be a green ROI chip but no Harvard Business School strategy can me effective than winning the premiership with a coach that many have written off as mediocre due to his near success syndrome of bygone years, a midfielder – N’GoloKante – bought from an unknown team in a hardly followed league and worst of all am €400,000 supporting striker – RiyahdMahrez – who is now valued at €40 million.

It reeked of a club that had the ability to make the most of what is given to them.

Alas, it never came to be as the fairy tale ran its course sooner than latter and by January defending champions Leicester were battling from being relegated from the very league they won few months ago.

In the most painful or perhaps cruelest of ways the board members decided to sack the coach that potentially stands as the only man in history to deliver them the premier league title. The Foxes in a likewise move most clubs take when sacking their managers decided to hand the reins to Ranieri’s hand right man – Craig Shakespeare. read more …

Jordan Pickford to decide on future after England duty

June 23, 2017

Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has insisted that he will evaluate his future following the England’s Under-21s bid to lift the European Championship this summer.

The shot-stopper will fly out with his teammates on Monday ahead of their crunch clash against reigning champions Sweden on Friday.

Pickford was one of the standout performers for Sunderland alongside Jermaine Defoe last term, but this was not sufficient to keep the Black Cats in the Premier League for yet another campaign. The Wearside outfit had been playing with relegation over the past few years, but this year was not to be theirs after they failed to gather a winning run in the backend of the season.

The 23-year-old earned his maiden call-up to the senior England squad earlier in the season, and the Black Cats graduate admits that he would like to stay put in the top flight in order to better his international hopes. However, any further decision on the future could be made after Euro 2017 which Pickford is determined to win with the Under-21 side. read more …
