Antoine Griezmann has long been in the shadows of players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi

Antoine Griezmann has long been in the shadows of players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

He continues to do so, but there has been a substantial improvement in the form of the Atletico Madrid forward. The player recently scored his 10th goal of the campaign in the 2-0 victory against Celta de Vigo. His first campaign provided an impressive return of 22 goals in all competitions. It looks like the Frenchman may struggle to match this tally in his second season, but a slight reduction was always on the cards after an impressive debut.

Griezmann now has 10 goals in 19 appearances for the Spanish outfit just in the league. However, fans have been able to witness the best of the 24-year-old in the Champions League. He has scored an impressive four goals in the six group matches. An overall record of 15 goals in 25 appearances for the Spanish outfit is good. His firm may be a reason behind Atletico moving to the top of the table just as the winter break came upon the la Liga. Even though Barcelona have played one game less than Atletico, a two-point advantage will feel like a confidence booster for the team from Madrid.

More importantly, Atletico are whopping four points ahead of arch rivals Real Madrid.”I don’t know if I am in the best moment of my career, but I hope I haven’t reached it yet. I am working to be an important player and I hope I can keep going like this. I am happy with everything we are doing at the front and in defence. We are doing things well, and we must continue like this. We are a team that has to continue like this to stay high and that’s what we have to do, game by game like the coach says,” said Griezmann.

Kareem
My name is Kareem. This is my blog.

I am a massive fan of football (soccer) across the globe - mainly the English Premier League, and closer to home, the Indian Super League.

In England, I am a big fan of Manchester United, though they are still yet to return to the best of times that they had under Sir Alex Ferguson.

In India, I live in Kochin, Kerala, so there is really only one team I could support - the Kerala Blasters!

You may have read some of my work (I work in the sports department in a well-known newspaper), but this blog is all about my own personal interest, and writing for fun.

I hope you like my blog - get in touch with me by email - kareemskicks2020 at gmail.com
