Paul Pogba’s Flirting with Real Madrid Not Serious, claims Higginbotham

Posted on April 17, 2019 by Kareem

Danny Higginbotham says that Paul Pogba appears very happy at Manchester United and it is not correct to read too much into the recent comments about playing for Real Madrid. The French midfielder recently admitted that it would be a dream to play for a club like Real Madrid – especially when they are managed by Zinedine Zidane. This has increased speculation that Pogba may be set for a move to Real Madrid in the summer. It was only a few months ago that the midfielder was linked with a switch to Barcelona. The midfielder made these comments ahead of the Euro 2020 qualifiers for France – against the likes of Moldova and Iceland.

However, Danny Higginbotham says that the comments from Pogba were merely harmless flirting and that it would be unwise to read too much into those comments. Pogba has been a player everyone since the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and he is the second top scorer at the club behind Romelu Lukaku. A major part of the revival under Solskjaer has been done to the form of Paul Pogba, who has been given more freedom by the Norwegian manager than by Jose Mourinho. Zinedine Zidane is back at Real Madrid for a second spell and he was immensely successful in his first by winning three successive Champions League titles.

“Of course, people always say look at Real Madrid look at Barcelona. It’s obviously a question that Paul Pogba has been asked. He seems very happy at Manchester United, his performances are suggesting that and at the moment Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is building a team around him. I think sometimes when players do say things like ‘it would be an honour to play for a team Real Madrid’ it’s sort of throwing it back in the face of Manchester United supporters,” said Pogba.

My name is Kareem. This is my blog.

I am a massive fan of football (soccer) across the globe - mainly the English Premier League, and closer to home, the Indian Super League.

In England, I am a big fan of Manchester United, though they are still yet to return to the best of times that they had under Sir Alex Ferguson.

In India, I live in Kochin, Kerala, so there is really only one team I could support - the Kerala Blasters!

You may have read some of my work (I work in the sports department in a well-known newspaper), but this blog is all about my own personal interest, and writing for fun.
