Toby Alderweireld confident on Club to face Seven Matches

Posted on April 28, 2016 by Kareem

Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld says that the club are ready to face the next seven games as their finals.

There are only seven matches left in the Premier League with Spurs being five points behind Leicester City. Going past the unlikely table leaders will provide them with their first league title since 1964. Further, it would also be seen as the ultimate achievement by an English club considering the face of competition that includes Manchester City, Arsenal, and Chelsea. The last 20 years have witnessed a determination by the rich clubs, but 2015-16 will be seen as the season in which money did not have a role to play.

City have effectively been ruled out of the title after a 1-0 loss against Manchester United recently. Even though Arsenal remain defiant about their title hopes, this season it is effectively seen as a two horse race with Leicester and Tottenham competing for the title. Leicester were in the relegation zone 12 months ago, while Spurs began the campaign with the objective of a top four finish at best.Alderweireld says that trying to focus every game as it comes may sound as a cliche but this is what Tottenham need to follow in order to stand a chance of leapfrogging Leicester City for the title.

“We are confident in our team, if we keep working hard and at the same level we have been we can beat any team. That’s not arrogance, it’s confidence and that’s the way we have to play. We just have to focus game by game. It’s a cliche but it’s the way we have to play. We have seven finals left so let’s start at Liverpool.I’m enjoying this season. It’s wonderful at Spurs and I’m really happy, so I’m just trying to keep my level until the end of the season,” said Alderweireld.

Kareem
My name is Kareem. This is my blog.

I am a massive fan of football (soccer) across the globe - mainly the English Premier League, and closer to home, the Indian Super League.

In England, I am a big fan of Manchester United, though they are still yet to return to the best of times that they had under Sir Alex Ferguson.

In India, I live in Kochin, Kerala, so there is really only one team I could support - the Kerala Blasters!

You may have read some of my work (I work in the sports department in a well-known newspaper), but this blog is all about my own personal interest, and writing for fun.
